We have recently changed our clinic name, formerly known as David Foskett Dentist the clinic has been operational for around 40 years.

Our aim at Hampden House Dental Centre is to provide each patient with the upmost care. Dr Colleen Devine became the Principal Dentist in 2022, taking over from her predecessor, she has modernised and updated the clinic. She believes in providing you with quality advice and doing so in a sympathetic, kind, and compassionate manner.

Our clinic is centrally located on Hampden Road, Nedlands. We provide General Dentistry as well as Implant Dentistry and Prosthodontics. We are a family clinic and love to see children and people of all ages.

What is QIP Accreditation?

QIP Accreditation of private dental clinics is based on the integration of a set of National Safety and Quality Health Service (NSQHS) Standards into everyday practice culture and patient safety. These standards combine regulatory requirements established by both Federal and State governments, with key aspects being the demonstration of clear and evidence-based patient benefits when visiting an accredited clinic.

What QIP Accreditation means for the patient

Visiting an accredited clinic means there are reduced clinical and general risks to you as a patient. We have staff which are trained to the highest standard in infection control and we are all engaged in implementing and improving the systems we have in place in the clinic. National Safety and Quality Health Service Standards for Dentists were adopted by the Australian Commision on Saftery and Quality in Health Care in 2011. Achieving QIP Accreditation means the clinic have proven delivery of the highest standard of quality patient care.

What QIP Accreditation means for our dental team

We are constantly reviewing and improving the policies and procedures we have in place at the clinic. We are committed to achieving the highest standard in quality and safety in our dental practice. The QIP accreditation is an independent recognition that we have met all requirements based on an established criteria and set of standards which enables all clinics to be equally. The QIP Accreditation reassures our staff, patients and all involved in the running of the clinic that quality and performance standards have been reached and are constantly being evaluated and improved.

Covid-19 and your dental treatment - February 2022

At some point over the coming weeks, we are going to have to face the reality of the presence of Covid-19 disease in our wider community.

I wanted to reassure you that we have been carefully planning for this eventuality for many months and we have systems and strategies in place to make the risk to you and our team as low as it could possibly be.

Below are some of the main ways we will be making it safe to provide you with treatment during this time:

Careful screening of all people attending for appointments.
Masks must be worn until you are asked to remove them in the treatment room.
All staff have been fully vaccinated with three doses of Covid-19 vaccine.
We have top quality PPE including fit tested N-95 level masks to protect you and our staff.
We have installed a very high-volume extraction fan system in the surgery which powerfully removes room air directly outside the building. This achieves in excess of 15 “Air changes per hour” (In a normally ventilated room there are an average of only 3-4 air changes per hour). That means that the air in the surgery is constantly being changed.
Monitoring of the Carbon Dioxide levels in the surgery has shown that the ventilation is optimal
We have installed medical grade HEPA 13 air filters which are capable of removing virus particles from the air if they are present. The sealed filters remove particles down to 0.1 microns in size and provide additional protection against airborne infection.
You may have seen in the past the vigorous cleaning of the surgery that takes place after every patient leaves. The medical grade detergent and disinfectant we use on the chair and all surgery surfaces is TGA approved and kills a wide range of microorganisms including SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19 virus). All instruments that cannot be disposed of are autoclaved to reprocess them and that sterilization process easily kills the SARS-CoV-2 virus.

Over the past few months, you will all be aware that we have been getting you to use a mouthwash immediately before your treatment. Research shows us that a pre procedure mouth rinse significantly reduces the risk of transmission of the SARS-CoV-2 (Covid-19) virus.
If the virus is widely present in the community, then Rapid Antigen Testing (RAT) will become part of life for all of us. When that time comes, we propose to test all staff regularly to reduce the possibility of one of us having an undetected asymptomatic infection that might pose a risk to others.

We would be grateful if you could help us to maintain a safe environment in the following ways:

Please do not attend for an appointment if you are feeling unwell, particularly if you have a cough, sore throat, fever, runny or stuffy nose, headache or gastro symptoms.
Please do not attend if you are a close contact of someone who has symptoms of, or is a confirmed case of Covid-19.
Please do not attend if you are isolating or awaiting results of a Covid-19 test
Please use the hand sanitizer provided upon arrival.

Evidence from the UK, Europe and the USA where they have been continuing to provide routine dental treatment through the ups and downs of the pandemic, is that with the above strategies in place we can continue to provide your treatment safely and effectively through the next stage of our collective COVID journey.
